  3. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and let simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, keep the lid on, and let it sit for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Fluff the rice gently with a fork, then add the lime juice, cilantro, and garlic powder if using. Stir until evenly coated.
  6. Taste and add salt as needed before serving.
