Ingredients
  

For the Spaghetti
  • 8 oz Spaghetti fresh or dried
  • 4 quarts Water for boiling
  • 2 tbsp Salt for the boiling water
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil extra virgin recommended
  • 4 cloves Garlic (Minced) fresh if possible
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes optional
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (Chopped) or basil
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (Grated) or Asiago
For the Garlic Bread
  • 1 loaf Italian Bread fresh for best results
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter (Softened) or use salted
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced for Garlic Bread) fresh preferred
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder optional

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Start by bringing 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil in a large pot over high heat. Once boiling, add 2 tablespoons of salt to the water.
  2. Carefully add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic oil. Add reserved pasta water gradually if needed.
  5. Stir in chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning with salt if needed.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic for the garlic bread, parsley, Parmesan, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
  7. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture on both sides.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes if desired.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
