Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread the frozen French fries evenly on a baking sheet or in the air fryer. Cook according to package instructions, around 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until bubbly. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour, cooking for about 2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in 1 cup of milk while whisking. Add salt, pepper, ranch seasoning, and cayenne. Cook for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Lower heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded white cheddar until melted and smooth.
  6. Transfer crispy fries to a platter and pour the cheese sauce over them. Sprinkle with extra cayenne if desired and serve warm.
