Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the sour cream.
  6. Pour in the whole milk and mix until the batter is smooth.
  7. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and additional ground cinnamon, then melt some butter and mix it in.
  8. Spoon the batter into the prepared liners, drizzle with cinnamon sugar, and top with more batter.
  9. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  11. While cooling, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the frosting.
