Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare the dough by mixing warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, cornmeal, and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and olive oil. Mix until shaggy.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl for 60–90 minutes.
  4. Make the sauce by heating olive oil in a saucepan, sauté garlic, and add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease the pizza pan.
  6. Shape the risen dough and place it in the greased pan, ensuring coverage up the sides.
  7. Layer mozzarella, toppings, sauce, and then Parmesan cheese on the dough.
  8. Bake for 25–35 minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Allow the pizza to cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
