Step-by-Step Instructions for Vegan Buttermilk Biscuits
- Preheat your oven to 430°F (220°C) while you line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of white granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Add 1/2 cup of cold, cubed vegan butter to the flour mixture and work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly pour in 3/4 cup of cold vegan buttermilk, mixing gently until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface, gently flattening it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
- Using a floured biscuit cutter, cut out rounds from the dough without twisting the cutter.
- Brush the tops of the biscuits with soy milk for a beautiful golden finish. Slide the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed and golden brown on top.
- Once out of the oven, you may choose to brush the tops with melted vegan butter for extra richness.
