Ingredients

For the Ribs
  • 2 pounds Baby Back or Spare Ribs Choose baby back for leaner meat or spare ribs for a richer flavor.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Bourbon Enhances the BBQ sauce’s sweetness and depth.
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce Use your favorite store-bought version or opt for homemade.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Adds essential sweetness for a sticky glaze.
For the Dry Rub
  • 1 tablespoon Spices (your choice) Consider adding cayenne or smoked paprika.
  • 1 tablespoon Salt Basic seasoning crucial for flavor enhancement.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Rounds out the flavor profile.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Aluminum foil
  • saucepan
  • Baking Sheet
  • paper towels
  • Grill

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by removing the silver membrane from the back of the ribs using a paper towel for grip. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and generously season both sides with salt and your chosen spices. Let the seasoned ribs sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or, for deeper flavor, refrigerate them overnight.
  2. In a saucepan, combine your favorite BBQ sauce, bourbon, and brown sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally to avoid scorching. Allow it to simmer for 10-15 minutes, until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld beautifully.
  3. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  4. After the ribs are done baking, carefully unwrap them and brush them liberally with the bourbon BBQ sauce. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) or transfer the ribs to a preheated grill. Cook the ribs uncovered for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove the ribs from the oven or grill, and let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Slice the ribs between the bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Allow the ribs to rest after cooking to lock in the juices. Monitor the sauce application to prevent burning during the glazing process.
