Ingredients

For the Tea Base
  • 5 bags Black Tea or green tea/decaffeinated tea
  • 2 cups Water filtered
For the Strawberry Syrup
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries sliced and ripe
  • ¾ cup Granulated Sugar or honey to taste
  • 2 cups Water
For the Final Touch
  • ½ cup Fresh Lemon Juice freshly squeezed
  • Mint and Extra Strawberries for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • saucepan
  • Pitcher
  • Measuring cups
  • Strainer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of sliced fresh strawberries, ¾ cup granulated sugar, and 2 cups of filtered water. Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are soft and the mixture is fragrant. Strain the syrup into a container, discarding the solids, and allow it to cool to room temperature while you prepare the tea.
  2. Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a separate saucepan. Remove the pan from the heat and add 5 black tea bags, allowing them to steep for 5 minutes. Discard the tea bags once steeping is complete.
  3. Add ½ cup of granulated sugar to the hot brewed tea and stir vigorously until fully dissolved. Let the tea cool for a few minutes before mixing it with the strawberry syrup.
  4. In a large pitcher, mix the cooled strawberry syrup with the brewed tea. Stir in ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, then add an additional 4 cups of filtered water.
  5. Fill tall glasses with plenty of ice cubes, pour the Strawberry Iced Tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint and extra strawberry slices.
