Preparation Steps
- Freeze a block of firm tofu overnight, then thaw it and press to remove moisture. Cut into 1-inch cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, and salt. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until fully coated.
- Heat oil in a skillet and fry the tofu until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, heat orange juice, soy sauce, and sugar/maple syrup over medium heat until simmering for 5-7 minutes.
- Add the crispy tofu to the saucepan and toss to coat in the sauce, then serve immediately.
