Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets until smooth and about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut each pastry sheet into four equal squares, giving you a total of eight squares.
  4. Whisk together one egg and a splash of milk to create an egg wash.
  5. Layer a slice of ham followed by cheese on each pastry square. Optionally, add a smear of Dijon mustard.
  6. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the fillings, adding fresh herbs if using.
