Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes until shimmering.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon and cook for about 10 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in minced onion and garlic, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried herbs, and beef broth; add water if desired and bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, add noodles and reduce heat to medium-low, cooking uncovered for half the pasta package time.
  6. Remove from heat and let sit uncovered for about 5 minutes.
  7. Discard the bay leaf before serving; top with ricotta and Parmesan.
